Newspapers are generally divided into two formats: Broadsheet and
Tabloid. Broadsheet page size at TSP is 11.625 inches wide by 21
inches high. Tabloid page size is 10 inches wide by 11.625 inches
high. It is important to remember not to place borders or text right
up against the edge of the page, as they may be lost in printing.
Leave at least 1/16" space all around.
When creating a centerspread, also
called a "doubletruck" in a tabloid newspaper, remember that if
headlines, copy or images span the middle of the page, it can not be
created from two 10" x 11.625" pages side by side. Instead, create
one 21" wide by 11.625" high page that will encompass the entire
spread.

Color pages in a newspaper must be placed at particular points in
the publication, depending on the total page count. For an 8-page
tabloid paper, the color pages will be 1, 4, 5, and 8, (pages 4-5 being
available as a centerspread or doubletruck if desired). In a 12-page
paper, the pages will be 1, 6, 7, and 12. A 16-pager will be 1, 8,
9, and 16, and a 20-page paper will be 1, 10, 11, and 20. These pages
are the same for a Broadsheet publication, except they have to print as two sections.
